Newborn and Postnatal Services
You’ll be relieved to know that our services don’t stop once baby has arrived!
Many of our new parents say that caring for their newborn baby in the first few days and weeks after giving birth was a surprisingly difficult time. It’s reassuring to be able to call on gentle, supportive, experienced help and advice if you need it. You’ll also be able to choose from a range of extended newborn screening to look for common inherited disorders and congenital heart problems (conditions where early detection is so important), many of which are missed with the standard bloodspot tests.
We also understand that sometimes labour and birth (whether at home or in hospital) don’t always go to plan and can leave you with worries, concerns and unanswered questions. Our unique ‘Postnatal Debrief Service’ is a 1-hour consultation with us to discuss both your labour/delivery/birth experience and outcome and the management and organisational processes that were or were not followed – and then whether these have implications for your health, your baby’s health or any future pregnancies. You’ll be sent a written letter after the debrief, setting out our expert opinion on your experiences, which can often be helpful if you’re thinking about further action.
