Preparing for Birth & Baby

In your second and third trimesters, it’s time to think about and then finalise your birth plan and prepare for birth and baby. Most of our parents-to-be really value the support we offer with our midwife-led services, as they offer an informal opportunity to chat and learn about all things bump, birth and baby!

Midwife-Led Parentcraft Classes

Our midwife-led ‘parentcraft’ classes include lots of helpful information, advice and support on staying healthy in pregnancy, birth choices and planning, analgesia for birth, how to feed and care for baby and getting everything ready for your new arrival.

Our highly experienced midwifes (and mums!) will take you through every step, listening to all of the things you’re worried about, answering your questions and providing practical help and advice. You’ll benefit from truly personalised care during your time with us as the classes are provided on a 1-2-1 basis with just you and/or your birth partner.

Parentcraft classes are included within our BabyComplete Pregnancy Care Package

During your class, you might talk about something that worries you and feel that you’d like a little extra reassurance.  If this happens, your midwife will contact Dr Beattie directly and quickly make arrangements (if needed) for you to see or talk to him.

*** Parentcraft will usually be delivered by tele-class or zoom-class during coronavirus but in-person support can be provided where appropriate ***

Birth Plan Scan

If you’re planning a vaginal birth, your midwife will also help you to schedule a Birth Plan Scan (where appropriate) at about 36 weeks to make sure you and baby are ready for birth. This also includes a vitally important Group B Strep Screen.
