Anti-D Injection

Rhesus negative women are advised to have Anti-D injection within 72 hours of an invasive procedure such as CVS or amniocentesis to prevent the development of antibodies which could cause Rhesus Disease (anaemia and jaundice) in the baby. This is a blood product and will need to be ordered before the CVS or amniocentesis is carried out. If you do not know your blood group you will need to book a blood group test at least a week before you plan to have your procedure.
