Early Viability Scan (7-13w)

An early viability scan, early pregnancy scan or dating scan is a transabdominal ultrasound pregnancy scan from 7-13 weeks (full bladder) to confirm the pregnancy is intrauterine (as opposed to an ectopic pregnancy), count the number of babies (eg twins), check dating and the heartbeat  (viability) and identify some major abnormalities.
