Product Description
Early Viability Scan (7-13w)
An early viability scan or dating scan is a transabdominal ultrasound pregnancy scan from 7-13 weeks (full bladder) to confirm the pregnancy is intrauterine (as opposed to an ectopic pregnancy), count the number of babies (eg twins), check dating and the heartbeat (viability) and identify some major abnormalities.
Sometimes it may be necessary to perform a transvaginal scan (empty bladder) if the view is poor, especially in very early pregnancy. Many other private ultrasound companies are unable to do this and so their scan findings in such cases are more likely to be inconclusive. These scans are also reassuring for those who may have experienced a previous miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.
