Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) is a fasting blood glucose test (Grey Top Vacutainer) followed by a sweet drink and then a further glucose blood test (Grey Top Vacutainer)) two hours later to screen for diabetes and gestational diabetes.

For a Non Pregnant Oral GTT
NORMAL GLUCOSE TOLERANCE RESULTS:
* fasting glucose <6.1 mmol/L
* 2 hour glucose <7.8 mmol/L

IMPAIRED GLUCOSE TOLERANCE:
* fasting glucose >= 6.1 to 7.0 mmol/L
* 2 hour glucose >= 7.8 to 11.0 mmol/L

DIABETES MELLITUS:
* fasting glucose >= 7.0 mmol/L
* 2 hour glucose >= 11.1 mmol/L
For a Pregnant Oral GTT
NORMAL GLUCOSE TOLERANCE RESULTS:
* Fasting glucose <5.6 mmol/L
* 2 hour glucose <7.8 mmol/L
