PAPP-A Blood Test

A First Trimester blood test (Gold Top Vacutainer) to measure PAPP-A a placental hormone around 11-13 weeks of pregnancy. Low levels are a marker for an increases risk poor placental function, growth restriction (IUGR) and stillbirth and thus closer monitoring with regular growth scans. This hormone is measured alongside hCG in those having an NHS Combined Test but is not usually available as a standalone NHS Test.
