A vaginal swab test to test for bacterial infections and yeast infections like Candida (Thrush) and identify which antibiotics would work best to treat them. The test can also screen for the bacteria that cause Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)
(Note – Group B Strep Screening uses a special Enriched Culture Medium and a routine swab test is not appropriate)
A low vaginal swab can be undertaken at home or in our Cardiff Clinic. A high vaginal swab can be undertaken by a healthcare professional in our Cardiff Clinic using a speculum.
